Hey Pastor,
It’s Alan, I don’t know if Pastor Leonard has told you but on April 30 my son Jon Paul was murdered.
I don’t know if you remember him he was at that father’s day car show when I first met you.
Anyways I can hardly sleep this rollercoaster ride just keeps going. Dewey I know that Jesus has a plan for everyone, but what kind of plan is it for a 19 yr old kid to be shot 8 times (In Albuquerque) I am struggling with this and also questioning my faith.
Since this has happened I’ve been giving it to the Lord and let the system work, but it’s a real struggle. The old Alan wasn’t a nice guy, not at all. And he keeps trying to rare he’s ugly head. I’m having very bad thoughts,and the only thing that is stopping me is that Jon Paul was proud of the way that I am at Valley View and how it has changed my life. And as you may know that no father wants to let his son down, and if I let the ugly Alan back out I believe that I would let him down.I kinda feel that I have already, for not being able to protect him.
I don’t know what I am expecting of you by writing this. The whole story keeps getting worse and worse. So maybe if you have time some day you can give me a call. Thanks for listening.

I just got off the phone with Alan, keep him and his family in your prayers. Violence is out of control in Albuquerque.
Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

I mourn at the loss of Jon Paul, I mourn for the people of Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico.
Years ago at the funeral of my Dad..I asked Mr. Anderson of the funeral home in Windom, Minnesota what are the worst funerals to do. He answered, “A funeral for an atheist is the worst, because they think it is the end and they scream and wail, and the next would be when a parent has to bury a child.”
