“ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.
My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand.
I and My Father are One.” (John 10:27-30)
I will use a phrase that receives more criticism perhaps than any other in Christian circles does: “Once saved, always saved.” I want to say that this is a true statement, however its truth is dependent upon the words: “Once saved!”
God’s children are safe! To say that exalts Christ, but to say that one can fall from grace, snatched from God’s hand of power, demeans, degrades, disgraces, puts down the very name and nature of Christ. To claim that one can fall from grace says that Jesus Christ cannot save to the uttermost. Our salvation then would depend on what we do, not on what God has done in Christ Jesus. To claim this makes Satan more powerful than our God. It lowers our One Mediator, Jesus Christ, to an utter failure. Perhaps more damning of all, it calls Jesus a liar when He said, “I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish,” thus, striping the world of fallen man of a Savior.
