The North Crest Fire in the Sandia Mountains is currently about two acres in size. The smoke will move westward toward the northern part of the Albuquerque metro area. Residents may be able to smell smoke as some of it mixes down to the surface. Most of the smoke will remain aloft though and given the size of the fire, a health alert is not needed at this point. The Environmental Health Department is monitoring particulate levels and will issue updated statements as needed.
