WASHINGTON, DC – Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque was honored yesterday, September 1, 2017 at the Care Net National Conference for excellence in providing a holistic approach to client care in its community. Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque was the Guy Condon Presidential Award recipient.
Roland C. Warren, Care Net President and CEO praised the centers recognized in this award category: “These centers understand and meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of their clients. The result is a fully integrated approach to client care that effectively communicates both compassion and hope, working with churches and community organizations to provide ongoing support to new parents. Care Net is delighted to recognize their service.”
Mary LeQuieu, Executive Director of the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque expressed appreciation for the recognition: “It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of the thousands of donors, volunteers, staff, and board members who over the last 34 years have made it possible to care for young women and their families. The combined effort of all these people has made it possible to serve women and men facing unplanned pregnancy totally free of charge. Our five locations and two mobile units allow us to provide pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STI testing, material support, and education throughout the metro area. The volunteer and staff medical professionals, indeed, all our volunteers offer such compassion and hope that it is an inspiration. This award is an acknowledgement of what we already experience; the deep satisfaction of knowing that we make a life changing contribution for thousands of children and their parents. It is gratifying every time we help a client overcome the challenges they face during an uncertain season of their life. We share such joy with our clients as they successfully navigate their pregnancy and beyond.”
Since Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque opened in November of 1983, tens of thousands of women, men, and families have been served. Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque provides a safe place for women and their families to explore their options related to pregnancy and their future. They also connect their clients with local churches for additional resources.
Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque is among more than 1,100 pregnancy centers in North America that are affiliated with Care Net. The award was presented in association with the Care Net National conference, where over 1,200 center and church leaders received training this year.
The Guy Condon Presidential Award was first presented in 2013. It is named after Guy M. Condon, who was the president of Care Net when he passed away following a car accident on November 11, 2000 after speaking at a fundraising dinner for Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center in Washington, D.C. The award commemorates Condon’s commitment to the holistic approach to pregnancy center ministry embodied by each year’s winner.
