BREAKING: Fresh polling shows the ABQ mayoral race is now basically a tie between Democrats Tim Keller and Brian Colón. Keller is at 21 percent, Colón at 19. Republicans Dan Lewis and Wayne Johnson each get 8 percent.
The polling was done Sept. 3, 4, and 5, a week after Colón put up a TV ad on the ABQ crime wave and that featured an endorsement from Attorney General Balderas. Before that Colón was polling in the 10 percent area.
There are 8 candidates running for mayor in the Oct. 3 election. If none of them get 50 percent of the vote–and none of them is expected to do so–the two top vote-getters will advance to a November run-off election. The possibility that it will be Keller and Colón is on the rise.
The poll will be released later today by KOB-TV.
