“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
According to a 2016 Survey of American Fears, conducted by Chapman University and published in USA Today, people are scared of a lot of things, ranging from terror attacks to government corruption and deaths within the family, but their greatest concerns revolve around money, or the perceived lack of it. Here are three out of the Top Ten fears:
-
Not having enough money for the future (40%).
-
Economic or financial collapse (37.5%).
-
Identity theft (37.1%).
At the same time, Relevant magazine did a survey among Christians to determine their practice on giving money to their local church or ministries. Here’s what they found:
-
Only 5% give a tithe.
-
The average Christian gives 2.5% of their income.
-
Up to 50% of believers give nothing.
Could there be a correlation? Well maybe, maybe not. But regardless of our individual concerns about income and our needs, and our giving back to God, here’s what He has to say to assure us:
He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things. – Romans 8:32
And my God will supply all your needs according to the riches in glory in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19
Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
That’s good enough for me. How about you? Maranatha!
