My Precious Father, my LORD, I thank You for the joy of being able to pray for others. It is comforting to know I can come to You, and You listen, and You answer.
LORD, so many precious people are grieving right now. My heart aches with them, and for them. This life is hard, even cruel, at times. We do not understand. We get mad. We feel abandoned, forgotten, and alone. Sometimes You allow various losses to break our hearts, and we struggle to know why. Something in us demands that we know why. We need reasons. We need hope. However, I believe we can trust You when our “why” goes unanswered. Life does not always make sense. Nevertheless, I totally trust You are always, always good in spite of our suffering. You are good. You are Sovereign God over all. You know what we do not know. Your ways are not our ways. Your thoughts and plans are higher. We see dimly through eyes of pain. We hurt because we once loved that, or who, we have lost. Now, there is the sense of having lost that love.
My Love, my God, please provide comfort and peace to all who are dealing with deep grief, loss, or tragedy. You know them. You know their stories. You know where they are. You know the reasons they weep today, and You count their tears. You are our Comforter. You are the Prince of Peace. Your peace passes all understanding. It is my trust that You will change their sorrows into songs of joy, in Your season. You have blessed me personally in this way many times. I am asking for You to hold those who are grieving close to Your heart today. Love them in ways they have never known. Let them feel Your amazing love. May Your love be more than enough during this time. Wipe their tears. Hold them. Embrace them. Let them know they are never truly alone. Let them know You are always there. You are Emmanuel, God with us. Thank You, LORD. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
—Beloved friends, there are so many ways one can suffer a loss; death, of course, but also loss of position . . . loss of identity (a job that seems to define who we are) . . . relationships . . . shelter . . . many, many ways. This prayer from my heart is for each of you that have shared these sorrows in the past days. God bless you in your sorrowing time, Jerry McCullah
