Beautiful Words, Wonderful Words

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that He entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard His Word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to Him, and said, LORD, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:38-42)

When I was very young, I would love to sit on the floor at the feet of my elder relatives at a family gathering (perhaps a once a year reunion), and listen, with respect and awe, to their stories of how it use to be, and oh, the memories, and the education!

There was a time when Mary, alone, noticed no one was sitting, in awe, at the feet of Jesus . . . so she, alone, took that spot.

As you gaze upon your closed Bible on the shelf, realize no one is sitting at the Master’s feet . . . listening to His wonderful Words of life.

Then, beloved believer, when you do open your Bible, do you sit listening in awe as Jesus tells you how it was, is, and soon will be?
