Let us pray for New Mexico. Pre-evacuation notices have been lifted as firefighters make progress on the Diener Canyon and Bluewater fires. Authorities say people who live in that area should still have an evacuation plan in case the high winds make the fires worse this week. In southern New Mexico, the 246 Fire near Capitan is 50-percent contained. The fire has already destroyed 16 buildings, including two homes. The cause is still under investigation. Another fire was reported Monday on the north side of the Capitan Mountains also off highway 246. The 40-acre Scout Fire is about 22 miles northeast of Capitan.
The Weather may get very dangerous.
The National Weather Service is giving an ominous warning Tuesday on the fire danger threatening New Mexico and surrounding states.
“This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening fire weather situation,” the service tweeted out Tuesday morning.
