Going Home!

“For we know that if our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” (2 Corinthians 5:1)

“Home” has a special meaning for most folk.  I remember the feeling, as a small boy, when school was out for the day; the thought in my mind was, “I’m going home!”   That gave me many good thoughts and feelings.

Later, when I was in a plane returning from Vietnam, going home had a deeper meaning because I had convinced myself I would never see home again.

Even now, in my advanced years, going home has many feel good emotions, even though mom and dad are no longer here.  I enjoy going places, but I also embrace going home.

For the Christian, the church is your spiritual home and family while on this earth.  If you do not have feel good emotions about attending church, going home, there might be something wrong with your spiritual well-being, your personal relationship with your heavenly Father, the Head of this home (the church).  If you are having difficulty feeling connected in God’s house, your spiritual home, check your side of the connection.  If you are always negative and critical of your church when all others are very positive, you are the one who is rejecting ‘home’.    In an electrical connection, two ends must come together for a common purpose to enjoy continuity.

Every time I go to church (any church that is Christ’s church, wherever I may be in service to Him), I feel like I have come home again!

Then, there will one day be a great “home-going” for me when Jesus Himself moves me into my permanent residence in heaven.  What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see!
