Mayor Keller on City Budget: “Public Safety is By Far and Away The No. 1 Priority”

I was in Reserve, New Mexico when this story broke last weekend. I was blessed to be able to preach at the Sunrise Service and the 11am Service.

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller has a budget plan. It seems to me that he is having to play catch up because the previous administration and City Council was not manning the store, not taking care of business.

We really need to pray for Mayor Keller and his staff, as they fight for the life of ABQ. Also pray for our Police Officers and Firefighters. They face hell everyday.

Mayor Keller was handed a $40 Million budget deficit when he came into office, a Police Department that is way understaffed, a climbing murder rate,  and a “white elephant” called ART, Albuquerque Rapid Transit, the previous administration’s pet project that has failed miserably. To put it simply, he was handed a disaster.

The Albuquerque Journal once again did an outstanding job covering this story……

“Public safety is by far and away the No. 1 priority in Albuquerque,” he said at a Downtown news conference. “That’s why our budget reflects this priority above all.”

Spending in the proposed budget includes:

$12.8 million to carry out a multi-year plan for recruiting new officers. The goal is to grow the city’s police force to 1,200 in four years.

Please join us in prayer for the soul of Albuquerque…….

Oh my, I am weeping and mourning another loss of life in Albuquerque. I am so deeply sadden with the murderous rampage here in the Duke City.

What do you think?

The ABQ Journal is reporting this morning that Possessing small amounts of marijuana will no longer be a criminal offense in the city of Albuquerque, councilors narrowly voted on last night, should Mayor Keller sign the legislation.

From Pastor Tony Evans:

Father’s Day Quote from Pastor Tony Evans! FGGAM QUOTE of the Day: “When a man does not live according to the biblical definition of manhood, it shows up in his own life and in the lives under his influence and care. When we look around our world today, we can see a lot of wear and tear. There is a lot of wear and tear on women who are being misused, abused, or neglected. There is a lot of wear and tear on children who are being forgotten, misled, or turned loose. There is a lot of wear and tear on churches that split, sit stagnant, or fail to develop men who grasp the abundant life or high calling to discipleship. There is a lot of wear and tear in our communities and our nation as the economic, educational, racial, criminal, social, and health care wars dismantle our stability. We cannot resolve any of these issues without first addressing the cause of them. Many men are not aligning themselves with the purposes of God’s kingdom. Until that alignment is made right, wear and tear will only perpetuate itself, resulting in counseling and pastoral offices like my own continuing to be flooded with the fallout.” Pastor Tony Evans in his book, “Kingdom Man”

I just love Pastor Tony Evans and his book “Kingdom Man” it has helped me become a better Man of God! The United States does not have a Political problem , it has a heart problem! We need to pray for hearts to be softened and given to our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen! Heart surgery for Jesus Christ needs to be performed on many! So very many hearts are hardened……..Tony Evans sure sums it up very well in the quote above!

Here at FGGAM our mission that God gave us when we started, three years ago this August, is to bring the light of Jesus Christ to one person at a time. If we can help you please contact us, we love you all! Happy Father’s Day!!

CALL TO ACTION: I encourage you to read the book, “Kingdom Man.”

Men, we serve in a kingdom. God is our King. Christ is our head, our leader. He has asked us to stand fast. He has asked us to give our individual allegiance to Christ’s command through His headship over our lives, regardless of the cost. It is our responsibility as men to see to it that those under our care—-those who depend on us and those within our realm of influence—-have every opportunity possible for protection, provision, and safety. If we don’t give that to them, not only will they end up suffering, but others will suffer, too.

Being A kingdom man is more than just being a great football player, a great businessman, a successful community leader, or a wealthy individual. Being a kingdom man involves being the hero who aligns himself under the headship and authority of Jesus Christ so he can fully access the power and authority of Jesus Christ to positively influence and impact everything and everyone within his realm.

From Tony Evans in his book, “Kingdom Man”

Why is the World full of evil?

“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts” Eph 4: 17, 18.

The Scriptures call the mind of the natural man “blinded” 2 Cor. 4:4, “depraved” Romans 1:28, “corrupt” 1 Tim. 6:5, and “unspiritual” Col. 2:18. The natural mind thinks from a humanistic, sin-debased viewpoint. The viewpoint of the flesh directs its thoughts. The sinful mind is under the control of Satan and can never please God because it concentrates on things of the world and not things of the Spirit. The natural mind walks the road of hopelessness and self-destruction.
