35 And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took Him even as He was in the ship. And there were also with Him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? (Mark 4:35-40)
Before I make a pointed observation here, I am reminded of something the Apostle Paul exclaimed in Philippians 3, and verse 10: “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection.” I want you to know that the power that raised Jesus from the dead also allowed Jesus to sleep peacefully in a fearful storm on the sea.
Back to the storm: Here in America, we are in a demoralizing storm. That is, everything America is enduring in these difficult years.
For the sake of our rescue, allow me to reassign the major elements of this narrative. First, the storm: Let the storm represent America’s present struggles. Next, the boat: Let’s say your church is the boat you are riding in for safety. However, you are not sure that it will hold together in this storm.
Beloved believer, the boat alone, (your church), cannot save you in this massive storm of gross national immorality, but the boat with Jesus in it will! Stay in the boat, (your church), but cling firmly to Jesus! Do not abandon the boat, (your church), however, do get closer to the LORD, and to one another in the boat!
Allow me to remind you of a great truth from the Word. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” (Psalm 133:1)
Church . . . “Peace, Be Still!” Pray On!
