Pleasing God, Psalm 119:1-8

Psalm 119:1-8 (NKJV): Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LordBlessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. I will keep Your statutes;
Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

Have you ever taken a look at Psalm 119? The great thing about it, because it is the longest chapter in the Bible, is that we can take a look at it sections at a time. It also gives us answers about living a life that is righteous.

This first section, verses 1-8, talk about being pure. What does it mean to be pure? In The Lord’s Eyes, it really means to be without sin.

Wow, what a concept. How can we be without sin in a broken world? The Psalmist here is saying that we need to do the following:

1. Be undefiled in the way

2. Walk in the law of The Lord

3. Keep His/The Lord’s Testimonies

4. Seek The Lord with their whole heart

5. Do no iniquity

6. Keep The Lord’s precepts/laws diligently

He also talks about that we need to keep his commandments and when we do, we will not be ashamed.

But there seems to be a problem, we fail to do any of this perfectly. That’s why we need to look to The Savior, Jesus The Christ, The Son of God. We need to look to Him for direction and guidance as well as instruction.

We will be looking at this Psalm in sections. Although,  we need Jesus to bring us back into A Relationship with God The Father, this Psalm lays a foundation of how we should be walking in our Faith walks.

If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.

It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it.

We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already. If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know.
