Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon presented evidence to the UN Security Council on Thursday that Iran carried out two ballistic missile tests in January of this year, a flagrant violation of Security Council Resolution 2231. The charges are made more significant by the fact that Resolution 2231 included language implicitly confirming the Security Council’s approval of the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran.

Czech Republic Foreign Minister Martin Stropnický issued a statement on Thursday blaming last week’s riots on the Gaza border on the Islamist terror militia Hamas which rules the Strip, pushing back against the prevailing narrative that the rioters were motivated by rage at the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. Also on Thursday, Israel’s High Court of Justice ruled that the IDF’s rules of engagement during the Gaza border crisis were legal and justified.

A large air strike hit Dabaa military airport in central Syria overnight Thursday leading to contradictory statements by the Assad regime, Iran, the US-led coalition and opposition groups while Israeli government spokespersons declined to make any comment. It was however confirmed by media reports that several pro-Assad regime fighters were killed in the strikes and a fair amount of damage was done to the facility which is routinely used by personnel from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and the Lebanese Shi’ite terror militia Hezbollah.

Kensington Palace said issued a statement on Friday declaring that Prince William, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth and second-in-line to the British throne, will make an official state visit to Jordan,  Israel and the Palestinian Authority administered territories in early June. “It is an historic visit, the first of its kind, and he will be received here with great enthusiasm,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement. The Office of PA President Mahmoud Abbas issued a statement sayig they looked forward to the visit “which we hope will contribute to strengthening ties of friendship between the two peoples”.

A troubling side effect of the Zionist enterprise is that 70 years after the State of Israel came into being, a wedge has grown between Israelis and the Diaspora, driven by guilt and presumptions of moral superiority. The main achievement of the Gaza border attacks is to remind Israelis that Hamas considers all of Israel’s borders illegitimate. The dispute with Hamas isn’t over settlements or the “occupation” or Gaza itself. It is over Israel’s existence.

Now in 2018, Israel was bombarded again with a whole series of false accusations about how it handled the situation along the Gaza-Israel fence. The facts that have come out since that time show a completely different reality from what Israel’s accusers have been saying.
