Good morning beautiful people, good morning. Last evening I took my grandson Evan to celebrate his 6th birthday. I was away when they celebrated his special day. I laugh as I remember the night I accompanied him and his brothers to the church they attend. They were studying about being fishers of men. Evan inquired Grammie, what if I don’t want to be a fisher of men? I said honey, it’s in your genes.
When I took him home that night, he jumped out and ran in his house and showed his mother and father the fish he made at junior church. He told them I am a fisher of men, it’s in my jeans, as he pulled out the beaded fish from his pant pocket. Kid’s are so innocent and so impressionable. I pray he always has the courage to walk on the water, it’s in His genes too!
Matthew 14:22-33 Jesus Walks on the Water
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Father, I thank you that You are our God. You desire your people to do great things in this world for your glory. Getting out of the boat is not easy nor is it comfortable, but it can be done. We keep stepping out and walking through the open doors to discover our steps, one step at a time as You order our footsteps.
Faith says we can, fear says we can’t. We have so many social clubs, but what we need is to see the manifested power of Jesus Christ- according to Your Word. We will continue to walk out on the water and be fishers of men.
Peter walked on the water and we will too. You are no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) Peter’s God and Evan’s God is our God too.
Father, let the power of God flow through us today. We are only stepping out in new ways because we know it’s You. Whatever you ask of us oh God, may our answer always be yes. As we step out we know You will part the red sea for us if the need is there. There is nothing You won’t do for Your people. according to Your plan. We know You will never leave us nor forsake us as we journey out. Amen
All across this globe today let the glory of God be manifested on the earth. Step out today in a new way and watch how Jesus will cause you to walk out on the water. Just like Evan, be a fisher of men.
Have a blessed day beautiful people. He holds your every day in the palm of His hands. Celebrate every day!
