It wafts down through the lowlands, like a cool refreshing breeze
It rings from every mountaintop and dances through the trees.
Though we can not touch it, it must be held onto.
No man shall take it from us, it belongs to me and you.
It is challenged on the battlefields, too well we know the cost.
Way too many gave their lives, that it would not be lost.
Through the words of our Constitution, it runs just like a thread.
With God’s grace, we’ll protect it, and defend it till we’re dead.
I guess if it had a color, it’d be red, white and blue…
The colors of America….the brave, the tried, the true.
If perhaps you’re wondering, just what it could be….
It’s the backbone of America….We call it LIBERTY!
We should all be thankful for liberty and pay tribute to those who fought to protect it. Most of us have family members who served or know someone who did. Today as we celebrate our Independence let us pray for those away from family and ask God to watch over their loved ones here at home as they also serve.
I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy Fourth of July!
