UPDATED: Health Alert Extended Because of Compost Fire in Albuquerque

The City of Albuquerque is extending the Health Alert for smoke. The compost fire in the South Valley may continue to emit smoke through the night. Light southerly winds are expected through the night pushing smoke northward across the Albuquerque metro area. Those with respiratory conditions in the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County should limit outdoor activity.

Effective: 4:00 PM on 8/30/2018
Expires: Noon on 8/31/2018

I wondered where the smoky haze was coming from! I had a bit of a breathing problems last night and this morning due to this fire.

The City of Albuquerque has issued a health alert due to smoke from a large compost fire in the south valley.

Officials say those with respiratory conditions should limit their outdoor activity.
