I am still in shock from getting the word that Arch Ellwein, the golden voice of the Sidney, Montana Eagles and District 2-C sports passed away yesterday. Arch and I are the same age, 62. He was working at KGCX AM Radio when I started there in 1979. Arch was such a shining light to Sidney and beyond! I pray for his Mom and all of his family and the Sidney community which I love dearly.

At that time the station was owned by Oscar and Faye Halverson of Williston, ND. Later KGCX AM would go dark, which is so very sad.

Arch was the first KGCX announcer I met when I cam to Sidney to start at the station. He gave me the lay of the land! So many great memories of the Sidney community, which Arch loved to the moon and back!

Arch certainly belongs in the Montana Broadcasters Hall-of-Fame! He now resides in God’s Hall-of-Fame, Heaven.

Arch is in the red shirt.
