Titus 2:7
The movie Braveheart depicts the moments just before the battle of Sterling in the thirteenth century. The Scots lose heart after seeing the size of the English army; they’re ready to give up before anyone strikes a blow. But then William Wallace and his band ride up from the rear, with their faces painted blue. This simple fact of “showing up” gives new heart to the Scots. They take the field and win the day.
Friend, the way you respond to setbacks in your life does matter. It matters to those looking on. When someone demonstrates bravery in the face of suffering or loss, others can’t help but notice. And courage rises in the hearts of all. So hold on to the courage of Christ. Today’s Scripture shows the power of example; sometimes the steady resolve of just one person can turn the tide of battle.
