Man is sacred. God formed him with His powerful, tender-loving hands from the dust of the sacred Earth. He, after, formed woman by His hands from a piece of the man He had formed prior. Sacred!
God gave man one Commission and one Command in the Garden. The Commission was also a blessing from the Creator: “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it . . .” ’ (Genesis 1:28) The Commission was sacred.
God made them male and female, specific for procreation to multiply and fill the earth. The design and purpose was sacred. Marriage between a man and a woman was sacred. It was a beautiful thing. It was a sacred intention. To God human life is sacred. He alone is the Creator and purpose of all things together with human life. Genesis makes it clear to us that we are created in the image of God. What a breathtaking thought!
In spite of all that is sacred, today man seems to feel that even though we are not the creator of life, we can decide to place our own values on life in order to do away with life in particular condition of inconvenience. This clearly is a disrespect to God and all that is sacred. This is creation acting as sovereign in deciding who gets to live and who must die. Where did all this evil in man begin?
That is where the original Command gives insight. “ . . . the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” ‘
The Command was sacred. They disregarded that which was sacred. They marred all that was sacred in one choice. They became Pro-Choice.
Creation and the creation of human life is such an incredible thing. My precious Ruthi and I had five wonderful children, and at this writing we are eagerly awaiting our eleventh amazing grandchild. Ask any new mother or father after witnessing the birth of their first child about their emotions over this new life. Many find themselves at a loss for words over the thrill of bringing new life into the world through the blessing of marriage and love.
And yet, others have a disdain over the ‘curse’ of their sexual pleasures being interrupted by this coming new life. How others can brag, even celebrate, over their right to end the inconvenience show how depraved man apart from God has become. Some have become pregnant intentionally so they could flaunt their right to abort. To many, abortion has become a badge of honor.
My friend, the entire principle of Scripture is about life and the pro-life view. God values life so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die so that we can live forever with Him by receiving the priceless gift of salvation through faith.
Pro-Life is not a political issue to stand on, but rather a God-issue to embrace. To embrace life is to embrace God. All life is valuable to Him.
The few verses I close with below will show the significance that God sets on life, even life before birth, and then I share a verse revealing our responsibilities to defend life:
“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” (Psalm 8:4-5)
“Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:4-5)
“The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.” (Isaiah 49:1and 5)
Responsible? Yes!
Deliver those who are drawn away to death, and those who totter to the slaughter, hold them back [from their doom].
12 If you [profess ignorance and] say, Behold, we did not know this, does not He Who weighs and ponders the heart perceive and consider it? And He Who guards your life, does not He know it? And shall not He render to [you and] every man according to his works? (Proverbs 24:11-12 Amp. Bible)
Beloved, run back to that which is sacred; choose life.
