Hello Fellow Pro-Life New Mexicans!
Albuquerque Right To Life would like to invite you to a brainstorming session on Saturday, April 27 to discuss how a united pro-life community can keep awareness of the pro-life message all over our state.
As we watched our NM Legislature this last session, it was painful to see so many of our legislators with absolutely no reverence for human life. From the push to pass HB51, as well as HB90, the mentality to destroy defenseless human beings was painful to watch and hear. But God heard all of the prayers and softened a few Democrat hearts to alter the results of these two proposals.
During those 60 days, a number of New Mexicans finally realized what was going on in their state and time and time again voiced opposition to these horrific bills with their presence, phone calls, emails, texts, etc. The legislative drama greatly increased awareness of the pro-death mindset so prevalent in our state. Many people who previously had kept to themselves on the pro-life issue stepped out to be a part of the protest on Social Media and other venues. And Prayer – lots and lots of prayers. And it worked! What a tremendous win/win for life!
Since the legislative success, 40 Days for Life has kept the pro-life fires burning – drawing the attention to the horrors of abortion going on in our state. Even before 40 Days for Life has ended, Abby Johnson’s movie “Unplanned” arrived in theaters last week to sellout attendance and reached the #5 spot for all movies across the country on its opening weekend!
All of this keeps the pro-life message in the forefront. And that’s just where we want it to remain until New Mexico is no longer considered a pro-death state. It would be so easy for people to fall back into old habits of just accepting that, “Oh well, New Mexico has always been this way. Nothing is going to change.” We have a pro-choice governor who is determined to wield her power to pass laws making abortion available for all – right up to birth.
We want to build on the momentum. So many didn’t know any of our organizations existed until this past session. New Mexicans need to be reminded that the pro-life community is alive and Very Well. A number of years ago there was a HUGE Life Chain that involved communities all over the state. Would it be worthwhile to do it again or are there other things we could do as a united pro-life community to let the citizens and legislators know they have ‘poked the pro-life bear’, and we’re not going away?

We need our voices united to keep the momentum going. There are so many wonderful organizations that reach out to those in need through sidewalk advocacy, counseling, prayer, education, etc., but a united front is needed too. Won’t you join us? We did it in Santa Fe when the odds were stacked against us. We are excited to see what a unified pro-life community can do next.
