Seek God First

We are so blessed to have Connie Keyohara with us again this morning! We are super blessed! Thank you Connie! God Bless you and yours!

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

I drive to work every day for one hour each way, I have done this for four years. By this time I have gotten to know the back roads like the back of my hand. I know every curve, every bump, every hill and every no-passing-zone. There are no houses between here and there, but there’s tons of Prairie and some mountains. Sometimes that drive seems Mundane, but I know it well.

But there are days when the drive is not so great, for instance when there’s inclement weather. Sometimes the fog is so thick it’s hard to see even one foot ahead and That’s the time that knowing those back roads like the back of my hand come in handy. Because even though I cannot see anything in front of my car, I know where the bumps, the turns, the curves, the mountains and the no-passing-zones are. You see, I’ve gotten to know that road so well that even when it’s a hard day of driving I know what to expect. There are no surprises.

This is how we should view our life. Sometimes life can be tough, it can be mundane, we can go through things that we did not expect. Storms come to our life that can throw us for a loop but, Knowing God, knowing his word, these are keys to getting through life. The most important thing is that we seek God first! There is no other way To get through these storms. And when you seek his kingdom first everything else will fall into place.

When you seek him first he will direct you, he will lead you, he will guide you. Seeking God’s kingdom does not mean the rest of life will be perfect but it does mean that we can have the hope necessary to keep in perspective the power of God over our lives, elevating our need to worry about how things are going. We are basically placing our priorities in seeking God first.

~I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me. Proverbs 8:17

If you received a love letter from someone our first instinct, obviously is going to be to read it. We don’t just let it sit there and ignore it, but we want to read it. We should be curious as to its contents. That’s exactly what the Bible is. Mostly. I hope you have time to read it and to dig deeper into the Sermon on the Mount. Aren’t you curious as to what God had to say to you? I am!

I’m praying today that you get to know God, and know him well.

Many Blessings,

Connie Keyohara
