Thought for the day:
The desire of the righteous is only good, But the expectation of the wicked is wrath. Reference Proverbs 11:23 NKJV
Seems Solomon has some good wisdom here. It’s easy to seek revenge on someone who has done us or others wrong. This is the cause of many a war or fight.
You know that Solomon was not the only one who said this. Jesus said, “But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.” Reference Matthew 5:39 NKJV Even God has said for us to not seek revenge in Deuteronomy 32:35.
So what are we to do when others seek to harm us? We are to show love, even though it’s hard. We are to pray for them. We are to not retaliate and ruin a witness that God May have in us.
Defending ourselves, or others, is not wrong. In fact, sometimes, we need to be the voice of those who cannot speak up. What we are not to do is to seek a way to destroy those who come against us. In showing love and praying for them and not retaliating, we may won them over for The Lord.
Are you showing love to those who may cause you harm or are you seeking to destroy them?
If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.
It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know. Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
