Thought of the day:
Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord : ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’ ” So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” And so it happened to him, for the people trampled him in the gate, and he died. Isn’t it sad that a man who seen the work that The Lord did through Elisha would question what was said? Because he was one that worked closely with the king, he had witnessed who Elisha was. Elisha had several dealings with the king as did most prophets of the day. You would think that the evidence would show who was truly sent from The Lord and who wasn’t.
Because he had doubts, this officer missed out on how God worked in this time of famine. He didn’t get to enjoy the provisions from God.
We need to look at how maybe doubt keeps us from seeing God’s Hand in our situations. Doubt can become a blinder to God’s Love for us. It will fill our minds with lies like, “God does not Love me” or “God must be mad at me”. These are the things that will keep us miserable.
We need to remember that God does Love us. He doesn’t want us to be filled with doubt. Being filled with doubt should make us look at our time with Him. I don’t know about you but, unless I spend time with Him, I can start to doubt His Love for me.
Is God communicating something to you that you’re doubting? Spend time with Him and become reassured of Who He is.
