Thought of the day:
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. Reference 1 Peter 5:6-9 NKJV
Peter and James both talk about submitting to God before resisting the devil. Why? Because it is only with God’s Help, that we are able to resist him.
There is something we need to be aware of with this passage. It is something that Paul addresses in Ephesians and is discussed elsewhere, we are in a constant spiritual warfare. It is a battle that we, alone, cannot endure. We need to remember, God already Won. If He Won, then we need to ask Him to Help us endure. With His Help, we will not only endure, we will have victory.
As we’ve experienced several spiritual battles recently, I’ve had an opportunity to spend time in prayer and asking why are we experiencing so much. A few things came to me as an answer:
1. God prepares us through trials to be able to handle more. It’s through trials that we become stronger in our faith, because we are leaning on Him.
2. A lot of times, we are so focused on the trial, we forget to look up. God already is fighting for us. His Love is evident. If we don’t look up, we don’t see Him Working.
3. Many times in trials, we tend to see the negative more than anything else. We need to start to learn where the positives are. If all we do is focus on negative, then all we become is negative.
4. We live in a broken world. Yes, there will be a time when it changes, when Our Lord, Jesus Returns, however, we are still here. This means that as we learn to Grow and see Him Working, we can see what He’s Accomplishing through the trials, of how He’s Molding us, which, draws others to Him. How effective do you think we would be if we were not molded?
Yes the difficulties of this life and the trials we endure are hard. We can walk around bummed or we can thank God that He is Trusting us with more.
Are you growing in your trials and thanking Him for Growing you?
If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.
It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know. Maybe today you are struggling with something. Maybe you may have found yourself not as close to The Lord as you thought. We would like to help you in this through prayer and guidance.
