Smoke from the Naranjo Wildfire, about 10 miles north of Cuba, NM, is moving eastward across northern New Mexico this afternoon. Winds are expected to change to northerly overnight and some of the smoke from the Naranjo Fire may descend upon the Albuquerque metro area late tonight. Haziness could linger into Wednesday.
At this time, it appears the smoke will probably be noticeable, but not concentrated enough to warrant a health alert. The City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department will continue to monitor wildfire activity across the region and particulate pollution levels in Albuquerque. Updated statements will be issued as needed.
