Beloved believer, it is time that we finally realize, and own the fact, that all of Christian life and ministry is warfare. The early church was aggressive and militant, spiritually speaking, as they advanced through Jerusalem and beyond through prayer. My friend, no power on earth can defend against the church on mission, armed with the power of her impassioned prayer. All the power of the Roman Empire was unable to stand against and resist the early church in effectual, fervent prayer.
The church on mission, fueled by prayer, is the imposer of Christ Jesus’ Calvary victory on every front line of aggression in a fallen world. The first church pressed forward through prayer; diligent prayer. They drove Satan back, battle by battle, by prayer.
What, then, has changed? The church today, by and large, is weak in prayer! She has become too content with the lesser prayers and smaller battles. She spends too much time on the parade field and never entering the campaign to purpose defeat against the evil one. She has become more concerned with buildings and music styles and casual dress to attract a casual Christian than to enter the warfare for a soul.
The church has changed, God has not; Satan has not! The evil one has convinced the church to feel satisfied with the temporal victories to the neglect of the eternal. The church has changed; she needs a quickening.
“Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” (Ephesians 5:14)
“The secret prayer chamber is a bloody battleground. Here violent and decisive battles are fought out. Here the fate for souls for time and eternity is determined, in quietude and solitude.” O. Hallesby
The world awaits the sleeping giant. Come on, church, your time is now. This may be your finest hour. Wake up and pray up! Souls hang in the balance. Pray On!
