Obedience Defines Your Master

Yesterday I had a doctor’s appointment with an urologist. After reviewing tests and examining, he concluded that I needed treatment for Prostatitis (inflammation of prostate) with the use of six weeks of antibiotics. Upon retrieving the medication from the pharmacy, I quizzed the pharmacist about all possible side effects.   She assured me of no side effect with which to be concerned.   Within a couple of hours of taking one pill, I began to feel some mental mood changes that caused me to decide that I would not give over the control of my mind to even an otherwise helpful medication.

The demonic world loves to gain control of the individual’s mind, keeping him or her from making right decisions and actions.   That said, are you aware of Satan, his demons and even Satanists using four major items to entice, seduce, and even recruit young people into their cultic prison?   The four most powerful attractions used are hard and metallic rock music, alcohol, a huge variety of drugs, and of course, sex.   Satanism leads one into bondage through mind control and fear.    Drugs and sex are perhaps the most powerful enticements.   All promise a type of power in life, but in the end only places power over the mind of the individual leading to his actions of risk and danger to all.   Whoever controls your mind and actions has become your master no matter what you may think or believe.   Moreover, the one controlling your mind is controlling your beliefs.

Satan’s primary goal is to keep man far from God; he continues this goal even after one has become Christian.   The then moves to lure the immature through subtle deceptions and highly polished lies regarding God’s Word and His nature.   This too, keeps one far from God.   More and more, weak Christians are tolerant regarding alcohol, drugs, distortions of music, and perversions of sexual activities as what God had in mind, after all.   This logic is not new. Does this not sound familiar: “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree in the garden’?”   (Genesis 3:1)   He (Satan) causes man to question God’s intent.

Drunkenness, intoxicated by, under the influence of, may refer to any of the above-mentioned enticements of the evil one, Satan.   Wanton sex, and certain forms of powerful music, can take as much control of the mind as any drug or alcoholic beverage can.   How is such possible?   Through demonic control or strongholds of the mind built from the varied temptations, which they offer man to consume.

No amount of permissiveness, or laws made to support these bricks building strongholds, can alter what God has already clearly stated in His Word.   Well, what has He said?

Numerous verses display God’s discontentment in those who allow substances and actions to gain control of their minds and lives.   Here are just a few verses:

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”  (1 Corinthians 6:10)

“Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:21)

“Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: for the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty.”  (Proverbs 23:19-21)

Even though society, and or the church, tells you that alcoholic drinks and recreational drugs are fun, social and acceptable, and even good for your health, the Bible tells us something very different:

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”   (Proverbs 20:1)

“Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink. ”   (Isaiah 5:11and 22)

“Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.”    (Hosea 4:11)

There were reasons why the drugs of the drug culture of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s were referred to as ‘mind-benders’, mind altering substances.   One verse of Scripture is enough to clearly see God’s preference for the believer, but let me leave you with a couple:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”   (Philippians 4:8)

God is my Master, and I am good with that!   Pray On!
