Thought of the day:
I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. Reference Psalm 18:1-3 NKJV
The Psalmist here seems to keep his focus in the right direction. He looks up to Our Lord for Strength because he remembers Jesus is Our Rock. He knows that Jesus will protect him. His Love for Jesus comes from being Loved by Him and knowing that He’s Our Protector.
We should have the same perspective. I know many will give a “pat answer” and say, “I do know Jesus Loves us and Protects us.” However, do we all truly believe that?
Many times when we are in the midst of struggles, it’s hard to remember His Love. We forget that He is with us and may react in our flesh. We have to discipline ourselves to not react in our flesh but instead, look up.
The other piece to this is to remember that when we are being attacked or falsely accused, that it is from a Spiritual nature. We cannot treat those who attack us as our enemies with hate. We need to show them love and grace, even when it’s hard. This clearly has to be one of the reasons Jesus taught to love our enemies.
Today, let’s reflect on how we truly react when dealing with hard situations, ask The Lord for forgiveness in the areas you fall short.
