This funny true story happened Tuesday in Nigeria, as reported by Peter Bamidele, our ministry coordinator there, and will show you how much God loves the unbeliever and also may demonstrate His sense of humor in the process.
One of the boxes in our latest shipment of Proclaimers to Peter in Akure got separated in Lagos for an extra day. When the UPS driver from Akure picked it up for his delivery to Peter, a strange thing happened that scared him. He said, “I suddenly heard a voice begin speaking from inside of the box in English.” The driver said he was afraid because the voice continued as he was making the rest of his deliveries to other clients. He exclaimed, “it wouldn’t stop!”
Peter’s address was his last stop and when the driver told him about it he said he thought that, “it was an idol speaking inside the box, so he was glad to get rid of it, in order to be set free.” Peter said he could hardly control his laughter but when he explained to the driver that the voice inside was coming from an audio Bible device and it was a recording of God’s Word, the driver was relieved. Whether he understood what he was hearing, we don’t know but didn’t God say,
“My word, which comes from my mouth, is like the rain and snow. It will not come back to me without results. It will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.” – Isaiah 55:11
So let’s pray for the UPS delivery guy. God has many ways to reach the human heart. This may be one of them. By the way, does anyone have an idea who pushed the “On” button on that particular Proclaimer inside the box? Maranatha!
