This is such another impactful post by Sister Connie Keyohara! Thank you so very much Connie!
Thus says the Lord, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; indeed, I will heal you. 2 King’s 20:5
Emotional hurts can be extremely debilitating and can cause detrimental pain. It might be through the loss of a loved one or a toxic relationship, a marriage that went bad, a loss of a job, financial strain or just a past hurt. Unfortunately, these types of hurts or wounds can heal much slower than physical injuries. Sometimes it even feels like our healing may never come.
When I was 18, I went through some severe trauma. It wasn’t until recently that I actually allowed God to start my healing. It should never have taken this long to mend. I was stubborn and it actually came down to me not trusting God for this healing.
I believe this particular issue, was sin on my part.
God’s desire is to bring upon us healing and wholeness, and it starts with us coming to God and leaving our hurts at Jesus’ feet. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
You see, I felt like I probably deserved this. That was stinkin’ thinkin’ and stinkin ‘ thinkin’ leads to drinkin’ And then you’ll have a whole set of different problems. This should not be! Not when the God of the universe is waiting to heal you.
There’s proof that God has helped heal the faithful since the very beginning…. all we have to do is ask him.
“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full. John 16:24
Once we become a Christian we actually become new creations in Christ. Our slates are wiped clean, and we get a fresh start, a new story and we get to choose the characters. If we allow God to work in us, and allow Him to raise us.
I use to rehearse my past hurts, and that just brought up painful memories that were detrimental to my heart. I allowed my yesterday to define who I was today. Hoarding old sin and shame, only hindered the blessings and peace that God wanted for me.
Now I’m free. I’m extremely blessed by that!
Philippians 3 13&14 says it best: Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Whatever your past hurts are, God wants you to leave them at the foot of the cross.
He wants you to move forward and away from the past. There’s hope there. So stop looking through the rear view mirror and use the windshield, because the road in front of you is what counts. Where you’ve been doesn’t matter.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
My prayer for you today is that you’d allow God to start the healing process.
Many blessings,
