William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army with his wife Cathrine, wrote this:

“What are you living for? What is the deep secret purpose that controls and fashions your existence?

What do you eat and drink for? What is the end of your marrying and giving in marriage-your money-making and toilings and plannings?

Is it the salvation of souls, the overthrow of the kingdom of evil, and the setting up of the Kingdom of God?

If not, you may be religious … but I don’t see how you can be a Christian.”

THE SALVATION ARMY ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO DONATE AND SHOP ON NATIONAL THRIFT SHOP DAY

Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores Fund Adult Rehabilitation Program

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Aug. 13, 2019) – Saturday, Aug. 17 is National Thrift Shop Day, a time to remember that donating to and shopping at your local Salvation Army Family Thrift Store funds the Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Program (ARP) in Albuquerque.

‘The ARP gives men and women battling addiction opportunities to stabilize their lives and regain confidence and self-respect, all while developing a good work ethic and other responsible behaviors,” said Major Darren Stratton, The Salvation Army Western Territory Administrator for Business for Adult Rehabilitation Centers. “You can do your part by shopping at The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores and donating your gently-used household goods, which can help provide a new lease on life for people and families affected by substance abuse.”

The ARP is offered within a residential facility, where housing, meals, clothing, and rehabilitation services are all provided without cost to participants. The program lasts from six months to a year, depending on individual needs.

The Salvation Army has the largest network of rehabilitation programs in the nation.

The Albuquerque ARP accepts men and women ages 21-64.
