| I happened to hear recently the old Beatles’ classic “Here Comes the Sun”—a song I listened to when I was first injured. Thirty seconds into it, I broke down and sobbed. It reminded me of the dark, depressing days in the hospital when I thought I would never smile again, would never see the sunlight of hope. And now, more than fifty years later, I still find myself thinking, How in the world did I ever make it? But here I am, living in joyful hope as though it were sunshine.
How did that happen? Here’s how: Day after day, month after month, year after year, I simply cast myself on Jesus. I clung to His name, crying out constantly, “O Jesus!” I’m reminded of today’s Scripture: “For you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.” If you are struggling through dark times, lean on the name of Jesus, and you will also soon be singing, “Here comes the Son.”
Lord Jesus, You are better than morning sunlight, more beautiful than summer sunsets, brighter than the billions of suns You scattered across the Milky Way with Your own creative hand. Your Word tells me to walk in the light as You are in the light, and that is my strong desire today.
