Button Up, You Haven’t Walked In Their Shoes…
Good morning beautiful people, good morning. I review a journal from 2009 this morning. A friend and I are on our way to a mission on the streets of LA. My journal is full of thoughts and prayers as this was a new adventure for me. Just when I think I figured out a persons situation, God would show me something different. Life isn’t always what it appears. Some of the smiling faces you will see today, is bleeding so badly inside. They are so full of worry, anxiety, debt and fear of the unknown. Their smile is pasted on, practiced as they journey the day. Some of the saddest faces you will meet today, are still connected to the hope that a better life is on it’s way.
As I journal about some of the folks we met on the streets of LA, my heart enlarged as I tried to close off my mind and pray from the heart for the homeless, the gang member, the broken spirited, prostitutes and so many more. I had no idea how much this mission would change my life. My time in Hollywood, I learned that all the wealth in the world could not fill the void in the human soul. At the Bonnie Brae house, where the catalytic fire for the Azusa Street Revival was first ignited, we asked the Holy Spirit to teach us. We wanted to know the fullness of the Godhead. That he continues to do.
Today, let’s pray the same prayer.
Father, thank you for the Holy spirit. Teach us to pray, pray through us today. As we close off our minds and open our hearts, fill us full of love, compassion and the power to turn the world upside down. Father, you tell us life is like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. May we cherish the day you have provided. Father, may we be found faithful, true servants of the most high God. Fulfill the unfulfilled destiny in us, we pray.
Father, give us your eyes. Help us to see as you see. Strip away all that is not of you, we pray. Oh, how we love journeying life with you. Amen
Have a blessed day God’s beautiful people. Don’t judge, you haven’t walked in their shoes.
Matthew 7:1-2 Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
