Heading in Two Directions

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16 |
Is it possible to head in two directions at once? Consider today’s Scripture: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” As a follower of Jesus Christ, your outward self—your physical body—will eventually decline. But on the inside, your spiritual life experiences vibrant renewal each new day. Really, that’s good news. You may be struggling with physical suffering. You may be diminishing outwardly. You may not heal as quickly as you used to, have the energy you had ten years ago, or get around as well as you once did. But inwardly? Your spiritual life can be more real, more alive, more vivid. You are being drawn so much closer to Jesus. As your physical strength and abilities diminish, your spiritual strength increases day by day. And in the moment your physical life gives out, your new life in heaven instantly begins.
Lord, thank You for this encouragement. Thank You for reminding me that even though this tired, broken body of mine is wearing out, I’m getting closer to You—and closer to heaven—with every passing day. Restore and renew me today as You promise. Keep my spirit bright today for the honor of Your name. |
