Since Sunday night, hundreds of rockets have been fired into Israel by the Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror militia. The rockets are being fired indiscriminately in the general direction of Israeli communities, including major cities like Beer Sheva and Tel Aviv but also including small farming communities like Sderot near the Gaza-Israel border.

The IDF has shot down many of the incoming rockets and launched retaliatory strikes against PIJ targets within the Strip. The Israeli government and other world governments have also appealed to the PIJ, through the UN and the Egyptian government, to cease fire, but so far the PIJ is refusing.

“We are not talking of mediation, it’s not appropriate to talk about it,” a PIJ spokesman said early Wednesday afternoon. “When we complete our response that we want to send, it will be possible to talk about calming things down.”
