Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Ephesians 6:11 (NIV)
Today’s Scripture urges us to “put on the full armor of God.” This is more than just picturesque language. It is life and survival for each of us. When you’re walking in Christ, you quickly learn that it means a fierce battle against the enemy. Every day—in a spiritual sense—swords are clashing, bullets are flying, and grenades are exploding.
Don’t be lulled into a spiritual stupor, thinking your enemy hasn’t placed a target on your back. If you name Christ as Lord, the devil has you in his crosshairs. So don’t let him decimate your faith, wound you with discouragement, cripple you with temptation, or take you out of the battle. In Christ, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). God is with you! So strap on that armor and get a fresh grip on your shield and sword, taking God at His Word. Winning the fight doesn’t require physical muscle, but a sharp, keen spiritual mind.
Lord, please deliver me from the fog of battle, when everything seems hazy and indistinct. Don’t allow my anxiety or my struggle with pain to preoccupy me or make me careless. Open my eyes to the warfare around me, and help me to be ready when the missiles fly my way.
