Today we, by tradition, celebrate the birth of One Who came inside the realm of humanity that He Himself Created. He came in the image of God as we are, and was conceived within His mother, Mary, and endured the slow human development—nine months. Jesus was a human as God designed the human—nothing changed. Nevertheless, His parents were instructed to call Him Immanuel, which by interpretation (in original language) was “with us [is] – God!”
Yes, Jesus was very much human. He was the Creator, Who positioned Himself within the human family He has designed and created. And, by the very nature of what He became, was totally dependent upon God and other humans for His survival needs. For nine months, His mother’s body nurtured and protected Him. After His birth, this dependency continued for some time.
The Incarnation of Christ our LORD is beyond human logic and even understanding – that He would do this rescue mission from within, for you and me. Merry Christmas!
