Don’t Settle for Less

Do you trust God and believe His promises? Or are you willing to settle for less than what He promises because of delays, discouragement, doubt, and unbelief?

The Lord promised Abraham that he would become the father of many nations by having a son with his wife, Sarah, who had already reached menopause. It took a total of 25 years for that promise to come to pass.

When Joseph was 17 years old, the Lord gave him dreams that his brothers would bow down to him. After serving time as a slave and prisoner, Joseph was promoted to second in command in Egypt at 30 years old. After seven years of plenty and two years of famine, the dreams came to pass—totaling 22 years.

The Lord gives his children, those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, promises and all of God’s promises are in the Bible. Every word of God is true for us.

Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every promise from the faithful God is pure and proves to be true. He is a wrap-around shield of protection for all his lovers who run to hide in him” (TPT).

EVERY promise. Not some.

Since Genesis the deceiver has planted doubt into us. He told Eve, “Did God really say…”

The enemy wants us to doubt God’s promises are true. Doubt and unbelief will rob us of receiving God’s promises.

Jesus said, “A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!” (John 10:10 TPT)

The thief is Satan, the deceiver. His primary objective is to rob us of the fullness of life Jesus sacrificed to give each one of us.

We must use our faith to fight for God’s promises or the enemy will rob us of it.

“Fight the good fight for true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses” (1 Tim 6:12 NLT).

In order to fight the good fight of faith and conquer doubt, unbelief, and discouragement that causes delays, we must continue to profess the Word of God. Why? Because Lord spoke through Isaiah and said, “So it will be the word that I speak: it does not return to me unfulfilled. My word performs my purpose and fulfills the mission I sent it out to accomplish” (55:11 TPT).

We are the mouthpieces of the Lord on earth. We must say what His Word says so it will fulfill His purposes for it.

God’s word contains a promise for any situation we encounter—finances, health, stress, worry, fear, relationships, work, promotion, protection, and peace to name a few things we commonly address in our daily lives.

To walk in the fullness of what the Lord has for us, we must by faith contend, declare, believe, and press for God’s promises regardless of what we see, how we feel, or how long it takes. Then we will conquer and overcome the evil one.

Let’s decide that we will not settle for less than what God has for us.

What difference do you think you would see in our lives if we all prayed the Word of God for ourselves, our family, and our communities?

Before my son went to prison, I never thought about prisoners or the situations their families encounter. I had to learn how to navigate through unknown territories.

Statistics show that there are approximately 2.2 million prisoners in the United States. With that many inmates, chances are you or someone you know has a loved in prison. One of the best ways to minister to someone is to pray for them. Will you commit to praying for prisoners and prison families?

I decided I would not settle for less than what the Lord has planned for me and my family. I committed to faithfully pray for my family and community, regardless of how long it takes. That’s why I wrote a book about it.

In my book, Appeal to the Courtroom of Heaven: Petitions for Prisoners and Prison Families, I …

  • share my testimony of the trials and triumphs we experienced on this unexpected prison family journey.
  • explain the Scriptures the Lord highlighted to me about HIS plan of redemption and restoration that filled me with hope.
  • included over 30 Scripture-based prayers. These prayers are not my words, as I don’t have any power. Only God’s Word changes our lives and our circumstances.

Will you pray for me and for the reach of this book? This book releases on February 3rd and my prayer is that it will reach those who have lost hope and they be filled with the hope we have in God.
