God Bless you Sister Connie Keyohara for another wonderful message! Thank you Connie for your ministry to us!
Trust in him at all times, oh people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
Psalm 62:8
I remember in grade school we’d play this game where we would fall straight back and somebody behind you had to catch you. It was silly at the time, but basically it was teaching us to trust one another.
As I grew older, I came to realize that you can’t trust just anybody. But there is somebody you can always trust and that’s God. He said that he would never leave us or abandon us, He is the friend that sticks closer than a brother, we are the apple of his eye, according to Scripture.
There are several reasons why it may be difficult to trust God at times. Bad things do happen, we get hurt, people let us down, there’s illness, divorce, financial stresses and all of these things are real feelings and things that hurt us.
Trusting in God takes a step of faith. That faith that comes from knowing him personally.
I will tell you something that I share often, because I believe it’s important to know this: I’m going to tell you about my neighbor, he’s an elderly gentleman, he’s never been married, he doesn’t have any children, he gets grumpy if you surprise him, and he doesn’t like idle chitchat.
Now you know about my neighbor, you don’t know him personally, but just what I told you about him. You know OF him, but you don’t know him personally and you don’t have a relationship with him, you only know what I just told you.
This is how we treat God sometimes. Some people know OF God, because their parents might’ve been a Christian or they’ve heard stories of Him, but they don’t know him personally, they only know OF him, but they don’t have a personal relationship with him. (There’s a difference.)
This is where the personal relationship with Jesus Christ comes in and is very important. When times get tough, and they will, when things start to unravel, heartaches come, marriages struggle, finances are a wreck, all we have is our relationship with God. Our Faith!
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
Psalm 37:4-5
2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us that we should demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
In order to hold those thoughts of worry and fear captive, we will need something to replace it with.
Studying God’s Word, praying, attending Church, worshiping and any other positive things you can do to know Christ better, is the key to holding those fearful thoughts at bay.
Things may look grim, your account balance may be low, your marriage may be difficult, but God knows exactly what he’s doing.
Trusting God starts with NOT leaning on my own understanding and trusting God with ALL my heart.
Know Jesus, know peace.
No Jesus, No peace. It’s that simple.
Trust and wait, and what do you do while you wait? Lean on God.
Many Blessings,
