What do you think? I encourage you to vet your candidates with God’s Word, it’s the only way to go. We are paying a huge price in this Country for not doing so. Back in the day…yes I know I am an old man….in the 80’s in radio we would ask the political candidates where they went to Church and who was their Pastor and what God meant to them. Yes we did! Sadly in this world we live in, many do not go to Church or have a Pastor or very, very sadly do not beleive in God. It is your job as a citizen of the United States to know who you are voting for! How do you vet your candidates? Ask them if they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Country got away from asking these questions, even Christian media, and look at ther trouble we are in!
22 New Mexico lawmakers face challenges in June primary
Governor Lujan Grisham has until noon today to sign the budget
Huge Budget Concerns Here in New Mexico
I posted this on Monday March 9th:
TRUTH: Me and many others have preached for diversity in the New Mexico economy for years and years, until we are blue in the face. Governors love to take credit for New Mexico’s economy when it is good and build their budget on unstable bridges. They sure don’t accept the blame when the economy goes south, they just blame the other party. Building a budget on oil and gas is always risky! Why does the Governor open us up to such vulnerability? The spending spree by the Governor and her co-harts is of grave concern. Do I smell a special session coming? If these budgets were built on Biblical principles and not man ways we would be in good shape. Don’t spend what you don’t have. Don’t go in debt!
Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2
FGGAM NEWS just received this news release from the NM GOP House:
NM budget concerns skyrocket amidst steep oil price drop
Santa Fe, NM– With just days remaining for the New Mexico budget to be signed and approved by the Governor, today’s news headlines showing plunging oil prices and large losses on Wall Street indicate major concerns for the New Mexico budget which heavily relies on oil and gas revenues. Oil prices have declined to less than $35 per barrel today and such dramatic cuts will most certainly adversely affect both state revenues, and oil producers who have operations in the Permian Basin in southeastern New Mexico.
“During the session, we consistently raised the alarm that it was inevitable a bust in oil prices would occur. Unfortunately, Santa Fe progressives refused to listen and spent without any restraint and raised taxes as if the oil boom would last forever,” said House Republican Leader Jim Townsend (R-Artesia, pictured), “House Republicans produced a budget alternative that would have provided a cushion against economic uncertainty, however we were completely shut out and accused of ‘not understanding’ the budget.”
The Governor has until Wednesday to sign the state’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year. It is a state constitutional requirement that New Mexico have a balanced budget. In addition to signing off on the spending plan, the Governor has line-item veto power in bills that have appropriations.
“The budget that was passed speculated oil prices would be somewhere around $50 a barrel, yet the oil market is now in a global upheaval,” said Representative Rebecca Dow (R-T or C), “I wish the progressives had been more conscientious in protecting our reserve funds and been more cautious in how they spent the surplus. No one in this state looks forward to re-living the budget nightmare we had just a few years ago when declining oil prices ended with our schools suffering the most in spending cuts.”
The news of instability in the oil markets arrives on the heels of several years of fierce campaigning from New Mexico Democrats to dismantle the oil and gas industry. Yet, in the past two years, this important industry has delivered historic surplus revenues to the New Mexico state budget and now accounts for 45 percent of total state revenues.
“The Governor and her allies in the legislature are dangerously walking New Mexico towards another round of serious budget problems,” said House Republican Whip Rod Montoya (R-Farmington), “New Mexicans are questioning how Democrats could spend the entire surplus, raise taxes, and dip into state reserves while forgetting about the boom and bust cycles.”
NM House Republicans have not heard from the Governor regarding what budget items might be vetoed and expect to see the final budget when it is released to the general public.
From Yesterday:
If you are a regular reader of the Daily Cup, it’s been around since 1997, heard me on the radio or tv, or you are a reader of my postings or have heard me preach, I am a registered Independent. I vote for the person not the party. I started in radio news in 1978 at the Minnesota State News Network. In my years in radio I have been a dj, sports director, sales rep, sales manager, news reporter, news director and general manager. Over the past 40 plus years I have been lied to by politicians live on the air, I have had politicians attack me, I have had them scream at me, I have had them threaten me, I will save all that in my upcoming book!!! LOL!!! LOL!!!……. I have been an Pastor for 11 years, mainly serving at the First Baptist Church in Reserve, NM for almost 8 years. I am still a news commentator here at FGGAM, which God formed 8 years ago this August.. The Lord has really blesased me with an amazing life, I have had my hard knocks, but the Lord has taken this old man and made him a servant of His people. it makes me very sad that many Americans have made politicians “gods.” You loose my vote when you post naughty things, lie, cheat, cuss…how come we accept bad language and lies from politicians? I saw this on Facebook last night from New Mexico House Republican Whip Rod Montoya (R-Farmington) Rod is pictured at the very top of this post.
Yes, I am very sick of politicians attacking their opponents with the same old political junk talk, all they can do is attack their opponent or opponents with hate, with “nothing noise,” no meat and potatoes, no policy, just jibber jabber, very low intelligence…bad role models for our children. I know many little children with more common sense and manners than many politicians. Rod Montoya hits the nail on the head! This message is so very refreshing for all of us! Whether your a Democrat or Republican or Independent this message should preach to you.
I support Rod Montoya, he stands for life. I have been blessed to see this man at our State Capital on the floor speaking for the life of God’s babies. I respect Rod so very much!
Tell the voters what you have done in your life. Tell them what your values are and why anyone should vote for you.
If you are focused on the other Republican in the race (or their supporters), you are REALLY off target.
You need to spend your valuable time and effort trying to convince people to vote FOR you, rather than why they should be voting against your opponent.
You need to show that you have more to offer them – – MORE than just name calling and sour grapes.
If you win the primary election on June 2nd, YOU WILL NEED EVERY VOTE ! You will need their support AND you will need their supporters. If they happen to win, they will need yours as well.
As Benjamin Franklin once said – “We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately”.
Thank you Rod , God Bless you and yous! You would make an excellent Governor, Congressman etc…
I always tell people to vet their candidates with the Word of God.
Here in America we seem to fight about everything…a very divided nation by politics. Politics never has solved anything. To many have made politicians their God. I watch Facebook, and it makes me so sad about the vulgar language being used and so many just worshiping politicians and leaving God out. It is bad when people make fun out of the coronavirus when people are dying, I have never thought making fun out of the death of one person is funny, what if it was your loved one? I don’t think God is happy with that type of humor. So many Americans are just plain mean. Many Americans look to politicians and the government to solve all their problems. I have never met a politician that heals. Our Country is in chaos…..because so many have drifted away from God. My friend Kathy Garcia said yesterday, The HATE FLU is the worst!

How can I be certain that God is in control in the midst of conflict?Mar 10, 2020 |

From the writings of the Rev. Billy GrahamQ: How can I be certain that God is in control in the midst of conflict? — G.C.A: For those who belong to Christ and have Him at the center of life, God is near. When we struggle, fight, and strive for our way, we are not “resting” in the Lord. “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret” (Psalm 37:7).
We must let go of inner tensions that life sends our way, trusting in God moment by moment. A victorious Christian is confident that God is in control. Reliance on the Holy Spirit gives us physical and emotional rest as we set our minds on Christ. The Bible tells us: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him… because they are spiritually discerned…. But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:14-16). We are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised that God the Father would send His spirit to help us in all things. We must admit our weakness so that we can ask Him to take over. Standing with Christ means that we stand aside and let Him have His way in our hearts and minds. What a comfort to know that our Savior is constantly praying for us. “[There is] no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit…. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit… because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:1, 5, 27). This should be a tremendous encouragement to every follower of Christ. ======== (This column is based on the words and writings of the late Rev. Billy Graham.) For most of my adulthood, I have lived in NM, primarily in Albuquerque. With that said, I’ve seen how the dems have destroyed a good economy, and then the Republicans try to fix what was broken. Now NM is in the same dire straights with the governor not having any budget. This is unacceptable to all New Mexicans.Plus the fact that the governor has outspent what was in the original budget. It’s now to turn the tables, get more sensible legislatures that think for the people more than themselves, and a governor that will do the same. I wish the good people of NM the best in coming months and years.
God Bless you George for your words. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! God Bless you and yours!
