Josh Daffern: Why Are There More Pastors Over 65 Than Under 40?

Huge problem in America! New Mexico has a shortage of Pastors in the rural areas. Young Preachers don’t want to live in small towns. I love rural New Mexico! I am going to be 64 in July and I love the assignment that God has given me to serve at First Baptist Church in Reserve! I love it, it will be 8 years in December since I started traveling to Reserve. I know of a Pastor in rural South Dakota who serves three Churches! I got a call from a Pastor in Albuquerque to fill in for him last Sunday but I was set to go to Reserve. For about 3 years on and off I also served at FBC in Quemado, NM as they conducted a search for a Pastor.

Barna Research released a new report titled The Aging of America’s Pastors and within it lies a milestone discovery: there are currently more pastors in America over the age of 65 than under the age of 40.
