No matter if the Republicans or Democrats are in the lead in New Mexico we still are at the top in depending on the Feds! Not a good place to be! Both the Republicans and Democrats have promised ever since I moved here in 1995 to change this, none have fulfilled their promises. This is why I remain an Independent, both parties are very disappointing. God shows me who to vote for, not a party. So many broken promises…..it would make a great country music song, a very sad song with tears….
A broken promise is a LIE!
We would be in very tough shape without all the Federal jobs here in New Mexico! It does not take a rocket scientist to do the math. Both parties are the blame for this situation.
No understanding on how to get off that bottle from the Feds…….diversify the economy!!!! Anybody can work for the ‘do little sit more company’ and wait for God’s oil and gas money!
Many politicians in this state thought Hollywood would bail them out with making movies here! Yep, the state gave them huge tax breaks! The Republicans held the Governors office for 8 years, nothing changed. Now the Democrats have the Governors chair and it only gets worse.
Here is the news release from WalletHub:
With Tax Day drawing near, the coronavirus wreaking havoc on the economy, and tax relief being considered in response, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released an in-depth analysis of 2020’s Most & Least Federally Dependent States (along with accompanying videos).
This report illustrates the extent to which states are independent economically. However, the oxymoron in this situation is that states with a higher level of federal dependence are likely better positioned to handle the coronavirus pandemic, given that most relief will come from the federal government. In order to identify which states most and least depend on federal support, WalletHub compared the 50 states across three key metrics: return on taxes paid to the federal government; federal funding as a share of state revenue; and share of federal jobs.
Federal Dependency of New Mexico (1=Most Dependent, 25=Avg.):
- 3rd – Return on Taxes Paid to the Federal Government
- 6th – Federal Funding as a Share of State Revenue
- 5th – Share of Federal Jobs
