My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. Hosea 4:6
It has been apparent to me for years that politicians seem to think leadership is attacking their opponents and saying all sorts of mean things. You watch them on TV and they all promise things, many lie, promising things they know that they cannot follow through on, most never offer solid plans, no meat and potatoes, just attacks. We are spinning in mud in this Country, going nowhere, we are so deep in red ink, our money is now ‘monopoly money’ and one of the ills is the lack of leadership. It do not hear one politician sounding the warning bell on the Federal Deficit! I get a lot of emails from politicians running for office, they never offer any solutions, they just bash their opponents.
One more thing, Every American should have a copy of the Founder’s Bible by David Barton! You will learn a lot! I love reading it!
I have to say that President Harry Truman is one of my favorites! Can you imagine making the decision to drop the atom bomb on Japan? Killing so very many people? BUT! Truman saved thousands and thousand more by not having to invade Japan and not having a ground war. My Dad, Wally Moede SGT U.S. Marines, was on a ship full of his fellow Marines to invade Japan and then Truman ordered the bombing. SAVED THOUSANDS! I loved Truman’s leadership!
Here is what Franz Boelter, Man of God, Hall of Fame Husband and Dad, Hall of Fame Coach, shared on his Facebook yesterday.
As we’ve watched different leaders speak on TV lately, we’ve obviously seen different leadership styles and skills. Today I decided to google, “What skills do great leaders possess.” The first site was titled, “21 Most Compelling Qualities of Great Leaders.” The source is a company called kununu (no capital letters). Here’s the “about us” for the company:
Kununu is the original employer rating platform and a leader in providing workplace insights in that matter. With a bold commitment to creating true transparency in the job market, kununu was founded in 2007 and has since collected over 3 million reviews globally from over 700,000 companies, including most of today’s biggest brands.
They note that all it takes to be a leader, in name at least, is to hold the dominant position in a group, organization, or location (dictionary definition). However, they continue, this is a very simplified definition for what a leader should be, let alone what a great leader is, because the measure of a great leader has much less to do with how you define their role and more about their actual impact on others.
Here are what they have found to be the 21 most compelling qualities of great leaders:
1. Resilience
2. Transparency
3. Emotional intelligence (EQ)
4. Passion
5. Empathy
6. Empowerment
7. Open-mindedness
8. Patience
9. Diplomacy
10. Initiative for action
11. Humility
12. Influence
13. Purpose
14. Vision
15. Trust
16. Integrity
17. Problem-solving
18. Perspective
19. Listening skills
20. Ownership/accountability
21. Motivation
There seems to be a great deal of merit in this evaluation.
