Did You Ever Wonder

Did you ever wonder what life is all about?  Did you ever wonder why you were born or where exactly you came from, or why you are here? Most of us have pondered the wonders of life and death from time to time…but did you find the answers?  Science it seems has answers for most of our questions, but their answers usually have to do with atoms, molecules, microscopes and educated guesses.  We don’t need guesses and scientific solutions…though some such knowledge is good.  If not for learning about motion and gravity, lightning, etc., we’d still be living in the dark ages, but along with knowledge comes the responsibility of sharing it…and finding those who will listen.

I never agreed with the theory that man evolved from the monkey…and that’s all it is, a theory… an educated guess…much like climate change and the hole in our 0zone layer.  If we evolved so far, why did it stop?  Why isn’t it still happening and why can’t we see it happen?  We can watch a caterpillar change into a butterfly, why can’t we see a monkey turn into a man?  Because the truth is: man was created by God…just as the Bible says…and we can watch them being born every day…and evolving into intelligent (?) loving people…just as God planned for them to.  What an amazing truth to discover that God is real…He made us, He loves us and sent His only Son to die for us so that when we leave this world in death we will arise to a whole new life…no theories…just facts.

The real question now becomes: How do we convince people to believe the truth about God and His love for this world he created…His love for each one of us individually?  The most amazing and life-changing realization to me once I believed was the fact that God KNOWS me…and He loves me.  He is on my side and fights on my behalf to help me overcome the evil that is in this world…though sometimes I go off in my own direction without first consulting Him.  He is always there and always ready to lift me up and give me courage to keep going.

I realize that convincing others is not easy, nor is it my job really.  All I can do is tell them what Jesus has done for me…think of it as planting a seed.  Then God takes my testimony and maybe uses it to convict someone else that they need Him too…He waters the seed…then we sometimes are blessed to see it grow…and that person becomes a child of God.

I think the hardest thing for any of us to do is to realize and admit that we need Jesus in our lives.  For Him to be a part of our lives, we have to let Him into our heart…and that’s not always easy.  Once I realized that He already knew my feelings, everything I’d gone through and everything I’d ever done…and still He loved me, asking Him to come into my heart and clean it up was not hard at all. The joy that comes from knowing Him far exceeds any pleasure I have ever found anywhere else.  I truly know what it would cost if I were to gain the whole world, but lose my soul.

Psalm 34: 18 tells us: The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

If your heart is broken, ask Jesus to heal it.  When you know your soul is safe in His hands and commit your life to Him all your troubles won’t go away, but they become less worrisome as you realize you no longer have to face them by yourself.  As for all the questions about life and where you came from and where you’re going…they will all be answered.  Just remember, if God is for you, who can be against you?  In His time and according to His wisdom, may we all find answers to all of life’s questions…in case you ever wondered.

Betty Fritz
My name is Betty Fritz. I was born and raised in Texas but have resided in Elkhart, Indiana for the last 25 years. My husband is a Hoosier so that’s how we wound up here. We have two daughters and a son plus 6 grand kids…..3 boys and 3 girls. I retired last year after working for 24 years at Elkhart Child Development Center. I’ve been writing since a teenager and have taken several writing courses. I enjoy writing short stories. I wrote a book of poems, RHYMES OF THE TIMES, which was published a few years ago. I have written countless songs, a few for which demo recordings have been made. Recently I’ve been writing blogs..most of them about my faith and things the Lord has taught me in my Christian life over the last 51 years. My inspiration comes from my personal relationship with Jesus Christ and my desire to see that my grandchildren grow up in a Christian nation. My goal is to bring glory to Him and help others to see that there is POWER in the name of JESUS!
