Christian Leaders and Thousands Across America Will be Present on the National Mall in
Washington, D.C. on Sept. 26
NEW YORK — This past March, Pastor Kevin Jessip and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Cahn, unveiled “The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance,” the national prayer movement to be held on September 26 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
“The Return” is answering the call to revival issued by scores of national faith leaders backing this historic movement, and thousands of churches and individuals will converge at the National Mall for corporate prayer, repentance, and worship. Tens of thousands more individuals are expected to participate in The Return via a live feed streamed to more than 2,000 simulcast locations.
Together, Jessip and Cahn have recently co-written the article, “16 Facts That Prove America Is in Deep Trouble and Why ‘The Return’ Is So Critical,” Jessip and Cahn identify signs that the United States is on spiritual life support.
Well-known leaders across our nation are of the same mind when it comes to the plight that the U.S. is facing and The Return has put out the charge to leaders, prayer warriors, churches and all followers of Jesus across America, to pray for repentance and revival – to return to God.
One of the foremost leaders involved in national prayer is Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, who will be holding a prayer march that will coincide with The Return on September 26 at the National Mall.
Jessip stated, “Praise God people are praying more than ever for our nation during this time. We are thankful for Franklin Graham holding his Prayer March 2020 simultaneously with ‘The Return.’”
Revival cannot come soon enough, according to Jessip and Cahn.
“Without revival, America and its future will be lost,” the pastor and scholar write. “Therefore, we have a window of time we may never have again. Most of us don’t want to look at the negative, but a few positive glimmers here and there give a false sense of security to what is really happening in our nation.”
The Return is a movement that calls on parachurch organizations, congregations, and individuals to humble themselves in repentance and anticipate God’s redemption and restoration. The authors say God’s pattern is first to caution wandering believers and then to pour out forgiveness when they return.
“We are in a critical time in America,” Jessip and Cahn write. “We have been warned. God in His mercy has afforded us a time of reprieve to turn and repent for our land to be spared from destruction, it’s a Nineveh moment! ‘The Return’ is a chance for America, 40 days prior to our next election, to turn back to God, just like Nineveh. ‘The Return’ is the gathering to spark a movement to gather, fast, pray and repent for our wickedness!”
Cahn and Jessip have recorded a special video about the event, which already has over 1.7 million views. Watch here.
The Return is set for 40 days before the presidential election, and on the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, in the days of America’s founding and dedication to God. Surrounding the “The Day of Return” on Sept. 26 at the Washington Mall will be 10 days, known from ancient times as the Days of Awe, to be set as a special time of prayer and repentance from Sept. 18-28.
The Return is for all believers who love the Lord from all denominations and backgrounds. Leaders already on board with The Return include Jonathan Cahn and Kevin Jessip (co-chairs), Mike Lindell, Michele Bachmann, Pat Boone, Dr. James Dobson, Mark Gonzales, Robert Morris, Marcus Lamb, John Kilpatrick, Pierre Bynum, Gen. William Boykin, Carter Conlon, Bishop Harry Jackson, Alveda King, Anne Graham Lotz, Pat and Gordon Robertson, Kevin and Sam Sorbo, Stephen E. Strang, E. W. Jackson and many more supporters listed at thereturn.org/faith-leaders/.
Coordinated events within The Return movement will also take place throughout America’s cities, towns, houses of worship and homes, as well as in multiple countries around the world, as many believe the nation has been given a critical window of opportunity to repent and return to God.
The LIVE Church Equipping Simulcast from Generations Church in Nashville, Tennessee, is just one example of how to host a simulcast of The Return. This will equip those who are interested in bringing The Return to their city and provide all the resources available to partner with The Return to ignite a spiritual awakening in communities across the nation through prayer and repentance.
