AFA Action to Take Part in Prayer Event for Supreme Court Nominee on Monday, Oct. 12: ‘A Call to Pray for Judge Amy Coney Barrett and Her Family’ in D.C.

Faith Leaders Will Ask God to Bless Amy Coney Barrett as Her Senate Confirmation Hearings Begin

TUPELO, Miss. — Just weeks after President Donald J. Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the High Court, the nation is now gearing up for her Senate confirmation hearings, which begin this morning in Washington, D.C. The hearings are occurring during an already divisive presidential election season.

AFA Action (afaaction.net), the governmental affairs division of the American Family Association (AFA, afa.net), announces it is taking part in a special prayer event outside the Supreme Court building on behalf of Judge Amy Coney Barrett and her family. It invites members of the public, wherever they may be, to pray during this divine moment on Monday on behalf of the nominee as her confirmation hearings begin.

Rob Chambers, vice president of AFA Action, will be speaking and praying at Monday’s event—as will
Bishop E.W. Jackson, a host on American Family Radio Network.

The prayer event will take place on Monday, October 12, from 12 noon p.m. to 12:45 p.m. ET, on the grounds of the Supreme Court building, on the west front perimeter sidewalk, in Washington, D.C.

From 12 noon to 12:30 p.m., faith leaders will “seize this divine moment as a sacred public assembly.” They will be praying for and blessing Judge Amy Coney Barrett, her family, and the U.S. Senate during the confirmation process, as the host organization, Judicial Action Group, noted in a media advisory.

Then, from 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., faith leaders will issue a global public call for the church to pray for Barrett and her family.

President Trump nominated Barrett, 48, to the Supreme Court on September 26, 2020, during a White House ceremony. In his Rose Garden speech that day, Trump called Amy Coney Barrett “one of our nation’s most brilliant and gifted legal minds … She is a woman of unparalleled achievement, towering intellect, sterling credentials, and unyielding loyalty to the Constitution.”

The president also noted of Amy Coney Barrett and her strong conservative credentials, “The stakes for our country are incredibly high. Rulings that the Supreme Court will issue in the coming years will decide the survival of our Second Amendment, our religious liberty, our public safety, and so much more. To maintain security, liberty, and prosperity, we must preserve our priceless heritage of a nation of laws, and there is no one better to do that than Amy Coney Barrett.”

In addition to the AFA leaders who will be sharing remarks and prayers at the Monday event, other Christian intercessory prayer leaders taking part in the event for Amy Coney Barrett include Dr. Negiel Bigpond, Cassie Pfitzenmeier, and Dave Kubal.
