I had the opportunity this week of helping my granddaughter with her homeschooling. After a not so good attempt at Biology and figuring out how to read the periodic tables, we began a study of life and how it began. Of course this study was on evolution…how humans evolved from a more primitive ape-like form to what we are today…and why scientists believe in this theory.
First, I pointed out to my granddaughter, this is just a theory, an educated guess…which means they have no proof. The dictionary calls it a “mere conjecture.” (a belief without clear evidence). Why then, do we teach this to our kids? Because it is a world view. Though God created the world in which we live, the world of education, for the most part, wants no information about Him sent out into the world.
For my own information, this morning, I read up on the origins of science. It seems that the study of science was not recognized as important enough to become a profession until the 19th century. The scientific method of experimenting to prove or disprove an idea has always been a popular one. Humans are born with a natural curiosity so the need to prove ideas only makes sense.
I have no problem with science except when it’s theories and ideas contradict facts that have been proven time and time again…such as the fact that God created man in His image. The world and all creation came into being just as the Bible states it did…God spoke and it was done. Every word from Genesis 1 “In the beginning” to “Surely I come quickly” (Rev. 22: 20) though written by man was breathed by God or spoken by Jesus.
The life of Jesus Christ and everyone else mentioned in the Bible can and has been traced and proven to be factual. Artifacts and discoveries have been found from bones and gravesites, to pieces of the ark that Noah built. People for generations have tried to find proof, any bit of information, that can prove the Bible and every word in it is false and not worthy of being taught. From the time Jesus himself preached they have looked and asked for signs that what He said was true. “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign…” Jesus says in Matthew 12: 39.
An evil generation is what we have become today for sure. Never have any of us lived through a time of such denial and refusal when it comes to believing in the power of God to heal and restore. Bibles and praying has been banned in so many areas. The world has become an enemy of the only One who can save us.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life…how many have memorized these words but not understood their meaning? How many actually read the Bible and know it comes directly from God? How many read it but don’t take it literally? We have to get serious about this thing called ‘life’ and teach our children the truth about God and the reason for His and their existence.
We did not evolve from the apes, but were created by God, in His image. Trust Him, try Him, and prove for yourselves that what He says is true. Then you will know for a fact that He exists… and that at no time has any man had greater love for you than God did when He allowed His only Son to be killed in order to pay for your sin. Then you will be persuaded as Paul was and wrote about in Romans 8: 38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Science is worth studying, but do so with the knowledge that what they teach comes from man, not God’s truths which have been proven over and over. When you see the words, ‘may have been,’ or ‘it is thought,’ it has not been proven and therefore cannot be relied on.
Jesus invites us in Matthew 11: 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
