There are many stirring passages in C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, but my favorite describes Lucy, after much time and many adventures, encountering Aslan the lion. In the story, he symbolizes Christ and Lucy says with wonder, “‘Aslan, you’re so much bigger!’ The lion replies, ‘That is because you are older, little one.’ Stymied, Lucy answers, ‘Not because you are?’ ‘I am not,’ replies Aslan, ‘but every year you grow, you will find me bigger.’” What a marvelous analogy: The older we grow in the Lord; the bigger God will seem. Take the advice of the Christ-lion from 2 Peter 3:18, “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.” Every year you grow in Jesus, you will find him bigger. Grow more, and your heart will stretch further. For God always seems bigger to those who need him most.
