When I sit upright, I’m able to move my shoulders and arms a little. But at night, flat on my back? I cannot move at all, except to look “up.” That could be discouraging, but in the dark of night as I gaze heavenward, I softly recite promises I have memorized from God’s Word. I model Psalm 119:147, “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words.” But I am not alone in my late-night pondering of Bible promises. I recall God’s suffering saints who’ve done this for countless ages. And God takes notice, for Psalm 149:4-5 says, “The Lord takes delight in his people…Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.” Friend, God takes delight in you when you look up from your bed and hold fast to his Word. Generations have done it, and so can you. Look up and… believe!
